Contest, BBQ Class and Judging School Dates for 2012

The Judges School will be held March 3rd at Hockenberg’s in Des Moines.  Mike & Teresa Lake will be our instructors.  Registration forms will be sent after the 1st of the year – if you have someone that would like to take the class, please let Anne Rehnstrom know their name and email address.  (Click here for application)

  1. March 16 & 17 -  The Art and Science of Competition BBQ in Marshalltown (www.4legsupbbq.com)
  2. March 30 & 31 -  The Art and Science of BBQ 101 in Storm Lake (www.4legsupbbq.com)
  3. April 13 & 14 – Corn Fed Cookin’ with TippyCanoe BBQ and Big T’z Too in West Des Moines (www.tippycanoebbq.com or www.bigtzbbq.com)
  4. April 21 – BBQ 401: Tenderloins & Wine in Waukee (www.grillnoutiowa.com/events.html)

Contest dates for 2012

  1. April 20 & 21 is the Smoke Over VEISHEA BBQ competition in Ames
  2. May 11 & 12 is BBQ in the Bluffs in Council Bluffs
  3. May 18 & 19 is Minnesota in May in Fairbault, MN (1st leg of the Border Battle Quest)
  4. May 26 & 27 is Smokin in the Junction in West Des Moines (Sat/Sun)
  5. June 8 & 9 is the O’Town BBQ Showdown in Ottumwa
  6. June 15 & 16 is Lakefest in Storm Lake and is now KCBS sanctioned (Fri/Sat)
  7. June 15 & 16 is the Mississippi River Motorcycle Rally Mr. BBQ contest in the Quad Cities (KCBS sanctioned)
  8. June 16 & 17 is the Rose Festival BBQ Championship in State Center (Sat/Sun)
  9. June 22 & 23 is the Iowa State Championship in Marshalltown (2nd leg of the Border Battle Quest)
  10. July 3 & 4 is the Whiting 4th of July BBQ Cook-Off (Tue/Wed)
  11. July 20 & 21 is BBQ’Loo & Blues Too in Waterloo
  12. July 27 & 28 is the Up in Smoke BBQ Bash in Mason City
  13. July 27 & 28 is the Westfair “I Got Smoked at Westfair” contest in Council Bluffs
  14. July 27 & 28 is the Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour in Des Moines
  15. August 18 & 19 is the Madison County BBQ Shootout in Winterset
  16. August 24 & 25 is the Nevada Kiwanis Club Barbeque Contest
  17. September 1 & 2 is the Throwdown On The River contest in Dubuque
